Las Tunas. - The Territorial Division of Radiocuba in Las Tunas maintained all its radio and television transmission services during the first stage of confrontation with Covid-19.
In 2020, the entity also continued the investment program, aimed at the extension of High Definition (HD) digital terrestrial television, which represents a technological leap that contributes to improving the quality of life of the population.
Under minimal conditions and in record time, a group of employees of the entity managed to put into operation a service of high quality standards, according to the international standards in force in terms of television signals.
For this reason, the Provincial Bureau of the Communications, Informatics and Electronics Union recognized the outstanding participation of the group in the assembly and start-up of the third donation of HD Chinese transmitters, from March 25 to April 4, last year, at the Amancio, Puerto Padre and Las Tunas Television Centers.
Luis Leonardo Sierra Santiesteban, technical chief, said it was a collective effort, in the midst of a complex situation.
«This brought limitations in terms of mobility, accommodation and food, but we devised a strategy to complete the assembly of the transmitters in the shortest possible time, in order to help maintain a signal in the air that would inform the people with better quality and stability ”.
Meanwhile, Dannier Acosta González, main maintenance specialist, pointed out that they installed these new services in places where only analog television existed. "The placement of the three standard definition digital transmitters in locations with low coverage, such as the community of Vázquez, made it possible to improve the quality of the signal that this population received."
Four workers and the head of the brigade in charge of the task in the Territorial Division of Radiocuba were recognized with Labor Prowess status for their participation in record time and with efficiency in this work.
This Vanguardia Nacional collective, in addition to optimizing the quality of the radio and television signal in the province last year, guaranteed the vitality of the television service essential in the transmission of teleclasses, due to the stoppage of the school year during the first stage of the pandemic.
In the context of the 82nd Anniversary of the Central de Trabajadores de Cuba, this act of recognition was held, in which Ana Ibis García Rodríguez, general secretary of the communications union in Las Tunas, called to defend the legacy of Lázaro Peña, captain of the Cuban working class, and to strengthen the example of those workers in the sector's labor groups.
